What if there was an answer,
that can no longer be found?
A brief moment when a decision left unmade,
set in motion the outcome of a life,
that subsequently unraveled.
A set of facts that lead down,
an empty road not taken;
One paved long ago and now forgotten,
overgrown and now unused,
a brief hope of time long past.
A place where we were lost in conversation,
someplace open, public, and yet,
there we were intimately lost in our own worlds.
Caught between tables too close to one another,
where for a moment we overheard one another,
and almost took the time to listen.
