We are limited in our limitless quest,
for answers we seek to windswept questions,
kept airborne by our living breath.
They move and dart beyond our grasp,
what ifs and what might have beens.
People gone but never forgotten;
their faces etched on closed eye lids,
smiles and whispers that soundlessly release
a burdensome emotion unquieting to the soul.
And so I sit late into the night with eyes wide open,
to forget a little longer those long lost faces.
