Lonely eyes did talk to me,
and upon the darkness did dwell.
Oh lonely eyes that watched over me,
when I was too blind to tell.
Yes lonely eyes that did laugh out loud,
and whisper in my ear,
to tell my story to me,
about those places where I did dwell.
They are but memories now,
long ago and ages far away.
So forget those memories lost in time,
remember what only is,
those lonely eyes just staring back,
within my darkest soul.
There was a time when,
those lonely eyes did sing,
an unbroken chain
of long unspoken words.
They linger now upon my breath,
and wipe away the tears.
But only if they could erase,
these many, many years.
